Why I bought a steam deck even though I have a laptop that’s better (although a lot older) mainly because my laptop won’t work with Linux (yes including the latest drivers) because of the fucking Nvidia won’t work properly.

Although tbh I rather play games on my steam deck with potato quality just because it’s portable

One of my main problems with Linux is the obsessive amount of text things have to learn or understand it, I have to sig around online for someone who doesn’t say rtfm because the manual is extremely long and it’s usually a pretty small easy problem. Or I find someone who has the problem and no response or a response that doesn’t work in the current version. It took me a couple of days to setup my home Linux entertainment system because of these reasons.

Accessibility matters,it’s good to have proper documentation and it also good to make it accessible to everyone and not just the hardcore Linux people.

One of the things I had problems with is with my laptop turning off my external display with the lid was closed, took me a couple of days to find it was in some text file in systemd instead of idk in the power settings?

Linux is hard and it’s not user friendly. But better then Windows for me at least, mainly because Linux has more accessibility options now then windows.

Now instead of a few shitty things. The companies are making a shit ton less quality junk that’s worse hoping one will become popular enough to justify the massive garbage they make.

Had to get steam deck, cheapest computer I could get that was made for Linux and gaming. My gaming laptop is more powerful but yet fucking Nvidia won’t work on it. And yes I did literally everything I can do. It’s a lost cause. Now I only use it for looking for a job and some intense games that can’t run on my steam deck.

Not sure about that launcher as I use Projectivy launcher, but I have the ability to hide certain apps. On it, my home screen only has the apps I use, nothing else no ads no “suggestions”

Don’t think it’s old people I think it’s more audio processing disorder which perhaps could happen to people later in life. All I know is I know people who have audio processing disorder and often times don’t realize it’s there phone because of how much noise is going around, all ages and all gender and sexes can experience this

I have it also and it’s incredibly hard for me to know who’s talking or my ringtone /notification even if it’s unique. With out my noise cancelling headphones with passthrough, every sound I hear all at once at all times, nearly impossible for me to differentiate between them

I got like 6 old computers from 2000 to 2016 all doing different things. If I had a choice between a high end server and cobbled together mess I would always choose the mess. Lot more entertainment and fun to figure out

Man pages are for people who already know a lot about Linux and understand all the nuances and understanding of Linux

Even after using Linux for many many years I still don’t understand wtf nearly all man pages mean. It’s like a fucking codex. It needs to be simplified but not to the extreme where it doesn’t give you information you need to understand it.

Tbh that’s most of Linux, not designed for average people, designed by Linux users who think that all others should know everything about Linux.

Remember adults the kids now a days do not often know hot I use a computer because they’re is no school classes for it and all the stuff they use in school are apps and touch based often times. Kids don’t know this stuff because society failed them as a society

Good to learn and understand these things and figuring it out to help others. Wish more people looked into this. I may not know but makes me feel helpful others are looking into these things more

Just a friendly reminder, the IQ system is dated and extremely ableist, scoring a anything on a IQ test means nothing on someone intelligence because smarts comes in so much incredibly different ways that no test can be accurate of how smart someone is.
