Not to mention iso booting from a disc…just works. Too many times I’ve tried booting various USB images only to have it fail for unknown reasons, the host machine has this weird quirk of not able to boot from a 3.0 port or…idk

Bruh, same. Except if it’s a store I’ve not been too before. Then I just ask the first associate i see if they have 15’s.
At least get clamAV setup. No OS is virus immune. And if wine is installed without proper sandboxing …
A few months ago I installed windows on a spare SSD. It’s only purpose was for modded Skyrim.
A few weeks ago I accidentally formated that drive. It was only mildly annoying. Then I remembered I was basically done with that playthrough anyways. The SSD still remains unformated XD
Pivpn is the package to get. Makes wire guard dead simple to setup. Just have to do a port forward on your router
What hardware do you have already? Is pihole running on a rpi? Look into setting up wire guard or tail scale. Then you can have pihole on your phone while your not at home.
Go old school and setup some basic website with apache2.
It did change. One of the many changes listed. It’s using a different web server, I forget now, but moved away from the previous one.
That entire scenario scares me lol
I formated an OS drive by mistake last night, thought it was my flash drive…
Don’t cheap out and use the hand holding script to ez mode the install. At least not the first time. You will learn a few things along the way.
I mean, the fastest method is likely to just plug the phone into PC and pretend it’s a flash drive?
Old gnome was great. Was like the best middle ground. Enough options to tweak stuff, but not plasma levels of knobs. Le sigh
I’m all for the spirit of ‘return to monke’ , but short of major disasters there’s no turning back. Not for the vast majority.
All our advancements are not all negative. Life spans now are drastically higher on average. Simple things like soap, antibiotics etc.
Maybe I’m missing a setting, but I can’t get this to scale with my vertical monitor. Rearranging the layout would be cool too.
Otherwise ya this looks and works well.
My work laptop is windows sadly. It has to run a bunch of endpoint sec stuff. I get it, but still sucks. On occasion I do dual boot (separate drive) when some update breaks something and I have to have a PC to fix something asap.
You joke but it would be an awesome project. Maybe replace the screen with a real LCD, shove an rpi inside etc.
Won’t make much of a difference usually. Worst that may come up is having to import the key from the distro during boot of your flashdrive. Otherwise go through the installer, delete windows or tell installer to wipe the disk and install over windows.
It has. I wanna say around f32ish. I forget what they said about the design change choices.
Hard to say. But it’s something to consider. Lots of other worthwhile suggestions I see too. Hopefully it’s not a combination of things.
Let us know how it goes!
Ya…some devices are seemingly straight hostile for doing this. Combined with Dells insistence on shipping PCs with a wonky “raid” mode for it’s single drive. Just mess. UEFI/secure boot etc…
