Half my peripherals not working/having linux software support is a major blocker for me. Plus a ton of QOL stuff or ways of doing stuff that I’ve gotten used to on Windows.

Do you mean specs wise or software wise? It’s a Lenovo Y50 with 8 gigs RAM, an i5 4210H, and a GTX 960M.
I’m running Ubuntu server with docker and a few containers (mainly Nextcloud)
Here’s mine. Might need to repaste it tho, the fans are literally always running pretty noticably loudly and CPU temps are at ~49° even though it’s idiling all the time at max 1%-2% CPU usage.
On a side note - is it normal for Redis to always be using 1-2% CPU even when there’s no traffic?
Yeah dynamic DNS works pretty good for me, after I set it up I never had any problems with it.
My personal experience has been frustrating each time. I’ve tried to switch over at least 3 times over the years, but I always gave up. This time, I installed Ubuntu and immediately had to spend 3 hours trying to get my Xbox controler dongle to work, but just couldn’t do it. Found a driver online that people said would work, it didn’t because it wasn’t properly signed, tried to sign it but the signing app just didn’t create the certificates needed. Gave up, I have Bluetooth so I’d live, though I’d rather use the dongle if I can.
I then immediately encounter another problem that couldn’t be fixed (for the life of me I can’t remember what it was exactly) and just gave up.
The previous time I tried it I remember that among other things, one of my main problems was the lack of clipboard history (which I use extremely often). I tried installing an app for it but all of them either didn’t work or didn’t work the way I want them to or I just didn’t like their look and feel.
I also hate the font rendering on Linux, it always looks blurry compared to Windows, and the double titlebars most apps have (e.g. Discord, at least on Ubuntu), I like my screen real-estate.
Holy mother of superiority complex in this thread.
They mention it in the article, but I think its purely for donations, so you can subscribe to donate on a monthly basis
Why does this have but plug support lmao.
Idk man, I regularly reinstall Windows (cca. every 6 months) to get rid of bloatware and random stuff I installed and don’t need anymore. It’s a pretty smooth experience, though it would be a major pain if your circumstances ever occured.
Who decides stuff like this? Who’s like “hmm, yeah a group of owls is definitely a parliament”
This person is either cursed or idk what they were trying to do. Installing Windows literally couldn’t be easier, you don’t even need to think about partitions, you can just let it create them itself.
I reinstall Windows every cca. 6 months to clear all the bloat i pick up, it’s really not that hard.
Logitech doesn’t have a version of their software for Linux so I can’t modify my G502 wireless mouse and Pro X Wireless headset (horrible name) at all nor, more importantly, check their battery life.
My Xbox controller’s dongle doesn’t work either (tried to install the Xone driver but couldn’t get it to work with secure boot after many hours of trying).
I never got to trying to run VR on Linux cuz I always got frustrated before I could get to that, but I’ve heard a lot of times that it just doesn’t work well or at all on Linux.
Then you add on all the small things that I like how Windows does more than Linux (or at least any distro I tried) and I just can’t see the point in switching.
My OS is supposed to be a tool that lets me use my computer how I want. When I have to spend half of my time tinkering with it to do what I want it to do, I don’t see the point anymore.
