I really think the larger problem is with capitalism in general, and AI is just the latest rendition. If the largest complaint is job loss moreso loss of income) and stealing intellectual property… These are both unnecessary concepts

I just shoved all my links into services 🤷♂️
I followed this https://trash-guides.info/
Helped a ton, go with atomic move if all possible
True, I love not having to open ports anymore, game changing.
I went with ZFS but had some issue where it would randomly disconnect completely and lock up the whole server until I rebooted. Probably something with the nvme I was using but I went back to ext4 and that resolved it.
Anyway my media drives are an lvmthin pool and just mounted to my LXC running jellyfin and such.
That doesn’t count as a firewall though no? I use traefik as my reverse proxy (and like one thing on nginx that also goes through traefik ultimately) but I still put crowdsec on top
I was being a bit lazy and tried this first https://community-scripts.github.io/ProxmoxVE/scripts?id=elementsynapse
I do have a few docker stacks running so I should just bite the bullet and go that route instead probably.
(lol didn’t meant to make this chain about my situation)
I’ll have to take a look, I have synapse running but I can’t actually connect to my server at all, need to set up the database and sign-ups and all that shit.
Fair enough, I do mean moreso for self host in a way, like I’ve seen some game hosting servers, they have a VPS they already paid for and use Pelican or Pterodactyl to host it all, being able to throw matrix into the mix easily would be great in those cases. Seems like this would be a separate situation, which is definitely fine, just not exactly what I meant.
What would likely help a lot if it was easier to get set up, particularly on a VPS or something like that. Small businesses and or larger community projects would be more likely to jump on possibly.
Another thing is ability to easily join, a lot of the above just have an easy link to join their discord server, not sure how easy matrix on boarding is currently as I still haven’t gotten my instance functional yet (not even half done with synapse configuration seemingly)
Fair enough, I’ve been using it for like 10 years 🤷♂️
You also didn’t specify anything about open source in the original comment lol
Lmfao unlocked a memory with this one, remember when Apple tried to force people to pay for that update? You could easily find the package and manually install it instead, but still lmfao.
Solid Explorer on Android is great, supports all kinds of protocol connections
It was Valorant first, because of the kernel anticheat, which they eventually brought to league too
You could contribute upstream
I use my previous desktop and a rando openbox thinclient I picked up at Bestbuy for like $250 in a proxmox cluster. The desktop does the heavy lifting on stuff like jellyfin transcoding, immich ML, or just general fucking about with things that require a more powerful GPU (got a 3080ti in there)
The thinclient handles all the lighter stuff that needs to be constantly available, like my traefik instance, dns/dhcp server, etc
Everybody forgets about Vine :p
+1 for proxmox, I now have two nodes since I started the homelab journey a few months ago lol
Just go on fdroid or something, I don’t understand why android app devs just give up with the play store. I get the reach is minimized but let’s be real, the reach for this kind of app is already limited.
We are still allowed to sideload apps on Android, and the more projects on Fdroid or other alternative repos the better.
