The news and politics communities on there are dominated by a user named Donald Musk. Looks a whole lot like UniversalMonk-posting, but could also be a tribute act. Doesn’t really matter, I can understand why we are defederated.

Elsewhere in this thread it is said that hilariouschaos is apparently what was once explodingheads, if you were familiar with that instance.

So? People could just block the two communities post to. Not that difficult. lol

Donald J. Musk is an absolute shithead, the only “conservative” who hasn’t abandoned the platform.

What you’re saying about exploding heads; I’ve heard of them before, but I don’t know what happened there, could you enlighten me?.

ExplodingHeads was the original extreme right wing instance on Lemmy. They packed up and moved to Nostr after pretty much the entire Fediverse defederated from them. Apparently they are back now and their instance this time is HilariousChaos.

This is per their own admission, seemingly: https://hilariouschaos.com/comment/9332

Seems to me like the EH guys did originally go over to HC, so that comment was probably true at the time of writing. No doubt around then is when HC got widely defederated. At this point it may well be that the worst of them have been banned and/or left. Unfortunately the damage already seems to be done in terms of defederation.

I still think a pronounced ambition to be a “free speech” instance with laissez-faire moderation easily can lend itself to problems again down the line, hence the whole nazi bar parable. Or, well, 4chan. So I still am wary. Letting Donald Musk and UniversalMonk run rampant doesn’t help.

I may be a shithead, but I’m not the only conservative on Lemmy. And more are coming.

              Lemmy isn’t a liberals-only platform. It’s open to all.

And no worries, I won’t ever abandon Lemmy. So all good. :)

I know that hilariouschaos has a bad reputation, I had a look at the communities, and indeed the News and Conservative communities seem to be mostly used by a user called DonaldMusk.

I would love to subscribe, but somehow my instance replies with an error message trying to access the instance on which the community is hosted:

There was an error on the server. Try refreshing your browser. If that doesn’t work, come back at a later time. If the problem persists, you can seek help in the Lemmy support community or Lemmy Matrix room.
