It’s gotten a fair amount of attention so far, I’m sitting at 49 subscribers now. So, I think it’s best to stay where I’m at. I’d hesitate to move it right now after almost 50 subs. I could see if there was less traction, but right now it seems like it’s alright where it is.

You find tiny phonographs attached to each flower, playing a symphony of staccato squeaks. The music swells and as it does your thoughts become scattered and erratic, you feel your limbs begin to involuntarily move in jerky motions. The gazebo cries out in agony, a series of high-itched squeaks emit from it and it breaks apart into a swarm of purple rubber duckies that amass into a giant fist, pummeling you for your audacity. The fist swings, the purple duckies bobbing and undulating like a wave of scurrying ants. When the the fist hits you an enormous SQUEAK rattles you teeth. You fly backwards in an arc, hitting a nearby flower stand, the flowers explode out in a flurry of daisies, roses and tulips, the startled flower-seller jumps in the nearby shallow creek in a panic. You are now covered in assorted flowers. What do you do?

There’s a difference between support and pointing out blatant US propaganda. Like I said above, many people across the fediverse don’t get the nuance of being critical of US narratives does not equal supporting the regimes that are on the recieving end of that propaganda. If you really spent any amount of time on .ml you’d see there is plenty of criticism of Russia/China, just not to the extent where everyone unquestioningly takes any criticism by US sources at face value.

Wherever it stems from it’s getting annoying to deal with the influx of “enlightened centrists” that have the idea that anyone left of Biden/Harris is a secret Russian/Chinese disinfo agent :/

Don’t worry about the other posters trying to dissuade you from lemmy.ml. It’s a very chill instance. It gets flack because it is run by and has a majority leftist base, but that shouldn’t be an issue if you consider yourself a progressive. The “tankie” slurs are frankly b.s. and disingenuous. I wouldn’t call the sub “pro-Russia/China” by any means, the users are anti-imperialist and realistic in the nature of US propaganda depicting other states as bogeymen. Just because you question the mainstream US-centric narrative doesn’t mean you’re shilling for China/Russia etc. There’s a lot of liberals and centrists, that despite their progressive sentiments they may hold, are still very beholden to the narrative of American exceptionalism in a lot of ways.

It’s seriously getting old at this point. I’ve noticed there’s been an uptick in hostility towards lemmy.ml over the past year. I can only assume it’s related to the reddit migration. Unfortunately I only forsee it getting worse as more people migrate over.

Perfect. I use VLC installed via Fdroid as my primary Android music player. The only thing I could never get to work was displaying Album art, but I stopped caring enough to fiddle with it for such a trivial thing long ago.

After looking around their website I found the info on SMS. I do like that it has a minimum pay of $5, both VoIP.ms and JMP require $15 to start. Although, I saw for SMS KeepCalling directs you to their app on the play store. I wonder if it is possible to use their SMS service with a third party app? I would like to avoid using apps from the Play Store if I can help it. Otherwise, it might be a viable option to try out with such a low barrier to entry. I’m still leaning JMP since it seems like the easiest to setup and use between mobile and desktop (MX Linux in my case, using the Gajim app).

Ah, that’s a clever way to circumvent minutes. Signal can only call other Signal users, right? So, if I wanted to call my mom, for instance, she’d need to get Signal? It’s been a sec since I used it.

Does KeepCalling have SMS included?

JMP did look like it was much more straightforward to setup than VoIP.ms. The configuration of VoIP.ms looked pretty bewildering from reading the wiki. My only concern with JMP was the minutes. From what I read it said it was unlimited text but only 120 min/month. Is that accurate?
