I don’t really like Discord, but it supports message pinning, threaded conversation, as well as a full blown discussion forum option for community channels. Your complaints seem to be more about the moderation of that specific community than Discord itself.

I work at a “Microsoft Shop” in a division that was a previously acquired software developer that used an entirely linux based dev stack.

That stack is still all linux and we basically have to do all our work in WSL. It’s a pain.

Not even that. LLMs have no concept of meaning or understanding. What they do in essence is space filling based on previously trained patterns.

Like showing a bunch of shapes to someone, then drawing a few lines and asking them to complete the shape. And all the shapes are lamp posts but you haven’t told them that and they have no idea what a lamp post is. They will just produce results like the shapes you’ve shown them, which generally end up looking like lamp posts.

Except the “shape” in this case is a sentence or poem or self insert erotic fan fiction, none of which an LLM “understands”, it just matches the shape of what’s been written so far with previous patterns and extrapolates.

When I initially set up my media server I went with Jellyfin over Plex mostly because the idea of having to create an account on an external service to use software I was hosting myself rubbed me the wrong way. Since then the more learn about Plex the more baffled I am that anyone chooses to use it at all.

My favorite is when someone responds with this but any cursory search to “educate yourself” delivers information that overwhelmingly opposes what they were saying.

A basic pocket calculator, or even graphing calculator, of the sort you’d expect to see in a high-school are not capable of providing the solutions to high-school level math problems. They’re beyond being given arithmetic with single numeric answers at that point.

In contexts where you do need numeric answers to a formula, such as in physics, you can absolutely use a calculator and that’s fine.

I wouldn’t buy a new Seagate drive, let alone a refurbished one. Every Seagate I’ve ever owned died in less than five years. Every WD I’ve owned lasted until long after their capacity was so far outpaced by newer drives as to be useless.

Anecdotal, yes, but it’s happened enough to me that I’ve been soured on them for life.
