If I intended to insult you, I would have. But when you make an outrageous claim without evidence, it can be dismissed without evidence, and I’m not in any shape to explain why your assertion that an app gets full access to your system on install is laughable. I’m also not in any shape to deal with thin skinned posters who see insults in everything, so good day.
You don’t need to understand the underlying OS best practices because the app dev is given full access to the device
You also don’t need to understand the underlying OS to make false claims about how it works.
I used sync for reddit for years, but I kinda hope sync dies. But I also have an axe to grind with the dev after they invalidated the app purchases and made people buy it again to not have ads. Plus their inability to update on a regular basis is kinda terrible, and has continued. One of the top posts on the sync community when I checked was to not report PMs because it will actually report a random comment with the same ID, which is just a massive fuck up given the amount of spam PMs.
Right? What could go wrong by mixing business and government?
why even work from home.
The freedom of not wearing pants at your desk
I was going to say file indexing, but surely that runs in the background.
Assuming indexing is enables, yes.
I really appreciated him saying ‘I don’t want yes men, I need people to call me on my bullshit, but I’m calling you out on yours’.
I read through the next few replies, and it seems like the anti-rust maintainer just has an axe to grind and can’t stand people working in a language they don’t understand.
Where are you located? I’m still seeing the correct name and I’m in the USA
If you’re not out yet, it’s not necessarily an issue, but masking hurts them a lot mentally after a while. Those who are already out but haven’t changed their documents have to go back to masking (assuming they’re willing to) to move forward with getting updated documents. And gods forbid you’ve started the process but it’s not completed, because they might straight up take your docs and tell you to fuck off.
I only see an issue with it if you are in-between getting the identification modified as the gears of beaucrarcy grind very slow
Or, you know, you live in a red state that fights tooth and nail to not update that information, all in the hopes that this day would eventually come.
Updating your vital records is a state level item, and the process will vary by state, and that’s a requirement to get it changed on your Federal passport. Please don’t forget that a large amount of states have been trying to pretend these people don’t exist, and now the federal government is trying to help make that a reality. For an example of the difficulties as reported 3 years ago:
States requiring proof of surgery, court order or altered birth certificate to change gender marker on driver’s licenses
Georgia.
Guam (U.S. Territory).
Iowa.
Kentucky.
Louisiana.
Northern Mariana Islands (U.S. Territory).
South Carolina.
Tennessee.
Texas.
States requiring proof of surgery, court order or altered birth certificate to change gender marker on birth certificates
Alabama.
Arizona.
Arkansas.
Georgia.
Guam (U.S. Territory).
Iowa.
Kentucky.
Louisiana.
Missouri.
Nebraska.
New Hampshire.
North Carolina.
North Dakota.
Wisconsin.
States barring residents from amending their gender designation on official documents
Montana.
Oklahoma.
Tennessee.
West Virginia
I’ll note again that this was 3 years ago, before the massive wave of anti-trans legislation in the last couple of years.
Deepseek works reasonably well, even at cpu only in ollama. I ran the 7b and 1.5b models and it wasn’t awful. 7b slowed down as the convo went on, but the 1.5b model felt pretty passable while I was playing with it
I would almost find the Wisconsin one funny since it’s already a state and I’d just assume grandpa Hitler was sundowning.
Goddamn this is fucked…
