Probably upset about “Happy Holidays” or something.
Nice. I’m hoping to get there eventually, but work stuff is keeping me on Windows.
When I stop needing Windows, that’s gonna be one of the first distros I try. Haven’t tried the atomic distros properly yet.
I’ve heard good things about Bazzite if that’s an option for you.
Not that one thing alone, obviously. But it’s a big part of it.
We can call it a hypothesis if that helps.
Then you’re the target audience for Bluesky and similar. Mastodon and other fediverse sites don’t have that and that’s what most of the people here prefer.
I forgot about Lemmy for a few days just because it’s not so addictive and I like that. It’s actually refreshing when you realise you’ve been gone for a few days without missing it.
It’s Twitter 2.0. It’s what the average person wants. It’s popular because it has algorithms and all the other addictive things from corporate social media.
Mastodon and others don’t have these things and are harder to get started with. Picking a server is weird and scary. After that, getting your home feed started is difficult if you don’t know to just follow some hashtags.
Buying a membership may go against the spirit of the post and the community, but Anna’s Archive is a very worthwhile cause and you get faster downloads without waiting.
If that’s not an option, they have torrents for chunks of their collection as far as I understand. Costs nothing but bandwidth and seeding helps keep the archive safe.
Maybe they picked it up again. Or we’re talking about different Raccoons. Either way, good to have a fallback and Thunder has been great.
The dev gave up on it due to too many entitled demands from users or something from what I remember.
ETA: Try Thunder as well. Raccoon was my backup for it back then.
How about Debian?
This happens sometimes. Yiu flashed it in a way that makes Windows not recognize the full drive. Usually happens with dd
flashing or Rufus’ dd
flash mode. I can’t remember what tool I usually use to fix my USB sticks, but there will be a way.
Also, just in case, check the computer’s Secure Boot settings in case something changed that won’t let the USB boot anymore.
Nice. Just do your best not to fall back on Windows too quickly. Really try to do everything on the laptop first. Except for work. If something isn’t working just do it on Windows and move on in that case.
Good luck.
You tried it on an old laptop before. If that or some other spare machine is still available, that would make a perfect machine to try and do everything while your battlestation is still there for things you can’t figure out immediately.
Arch in the middle.
Here’s hoping this becomes a proper english version with the same dedication as the original. Think a lot of people could appreciate something like this.
Use All to get started. Check it out now and then for some variety and maybe to find new communities. But absolutely curate your own Subscribed timeline.
Good thing there’s so many options for people to find what they’re looking for.
