I guess I don’t understand the mastodon/twitter style feed, I’ve always found that I couldn’t seem to get a feed interesting enough to come back to.

Cool, now they can continue doing the stupidest shit but also now guzzle down millions of gallons of precious water too.

“Words aren’t dangerous” is one of the greatest misnomers of all time. Words have, repeatedly throughout human history, demonstrably been the catalyst for action.

Normalizing hate speech is a signal that hate itself can be normal. Hate speech has become violence so many times that I can not fathom not understanding that words have real power.

Regarding who may be making the problem worse, I’ll let a better spoken man field a response: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

First off: hate and spam aren’t mutually exclusive, it can be both. Especially when, after reading the linked article, it’s pretty clear that this isn’t an isolated case of one email going out.

But more importantly: hate is never a non-issue; you may not have been bothered but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an impact on other’s lives. Tolerating hate is so very dangerously close to acceptance here and we as a society simply can’t allow that to become normal.

Codeberg taking the time to tell us that this was wrong and they don’t tolerate their systems being used to spread hate is good.

The XL is indeed corexy but it’s also marketed to professionals who would be able to navigate any issues. I’ve seen some mixed reviews on if it’s good.

FWIW, Prusa has definitely had some major failures. The MMU2 was fundamentally broken on release with sensors that were unreliable at best and the community had to step in with replacement models to get it even somewhat reliable.

Just be wary of trusting the brand. I like Prusa too but they aren’t immune to misses.

For me, pre-purchasing a Phrozen resin printer that every single YouTube influencer assured me was the absolute best printer ever made only for it to be an absolute mess that just sits on my shelf unused because it is complete garbage, was my lesson to wait for the reviews.

I advise against getting the brand new thing. My experience has been that frequently the reliability and feature set of yet-to-be-released things tend to be highly overstated. The CORE looks cool but I would give it six months after release before you consider buying one so you can see some real reviews.

Prusa has a pretty decent track record but they are really branching out of their comfort zone now and I would be cautious.

If you don’t want to wait, the Bambu P1S is a phenomenal printer. I wish they were more open along with everyone else but I have many, many, many hours on mine and has been an excellent purchase. It was a massive upgrade from my Prusa Mk3S.

I imagine it’s probably part of the x-carriage, but if you download the assembly instructions pdf you can walk through it to find the part and it will label it for you.

I’m on my third upgrade machine after getting my first printer years ago. Very rewarding hobby, much recommend.

Don’t let the feedback here get you down. Some of the comments are overly negative; you’ve got the start of a cool stand going, keep it up.

I think you could keep the basic design but add a pillar to support the back edge at the mid point and substantially reduce the risk.

I’d be worried about something (perhaps unintentionally) applying torque at the top of the device.

All good reasons to make a decision, I’m not trying to sway anyone in a direction.

I just feel bad when people see drama in a community and wonder if that thing is “safe”. I’ve seen this kind of thing many times before in other communities—PERL, Python, Ruby, Rust, etc—and it never seems to lead to sweeping changes the normal user would notice. It’s pretty safe to assume that day-to-day users of thing can just carry on if they don’t care about the community upset.

It’s probably wise to simply ignore the drama. Open source seems to invite this at the “top” for whatever reason, but for the casual user there is usually little to no impact.

Unless you’re trying to be a top contributor to nix, I would just carry on with normal usage and all the current drama will blow over.

Banning seems totally reasonable to me. Nobody is obligated to put up with that shit.

I miss the golden age of the late 90’s when tabs were easy to get and free.
