Still a weird way to say this.
Why is he using the term “SteamOS kernel”?
All I see is “Ooooh look, we use AI!” which actually repels me quite a lot. The page leaves the impression that photoshop is a toy, not a tool.
I mean, tastes are different, but I really did not like the photshop page design.
This is exactly the problem they face. I use GIMP since ~15years. Any change they make will annoy me to a degree. But I also understand that getting into the UI is not that easy. They somehow have to manage these two completly opposing interests.
Just supported the project with a few €. He apparently collected 133.019 CA$. So the immediate future is looking good foglr that project (here aimed for 50.000).
Participations are still open for everyone who wants to support it: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pixelfed/pixelfed-foundation-2024-real-ethical-social-networks?ref=ksr_email_backer_pledge_collection_successful
Also don’t forget to support the lemmy project!
Many things are possible with both products. But Kritas focus is on drawing/paiting and animation, meanwhile GIMPs focus is photo edititing.
Just try them out. I really love both.
But if they were doing Asahi Linux for fun as a hobby, and if it isn’t fun anymore for a variety of reasons, then you really can’t blame them.
I have 0 knowledge about this project, so my statement here is just a general statement.
But if a developer collects donations for promising something, then this is not just “for fun”, but they do have a moral obligation to try doing a good job.
It seems they overfullfilled their obligations (but all I know about it, are the words of the developer). So, as said above, this is a general statement.
And it is also great television. For me personally, the best I’ve ever seen. Whoever reads this and hasn’t seen it already: Do it! And watch it all! Some might think season 2 is a little slow (I still liked it), but season 3 is just incredible.
I was actually just adding more criticism. They obviously negated that people can have more than one native language. There is a lot to criticize on that presentation. I’d file it under “Data can be ugly” tbh.
On the other hand, doing this “cleanly” is imo nearly impossible. The language situation is way to complicated to present “the demographic of languages of the world” in a single graph without oversimplifying and misrepresenting stuff.
Some of the missing are left out languages. E.g. there are ~200 million speakers of turkic languages, but they only cited Turkish with ~71 million. Amd they didn’t include a single Bantu language. There must be more than 300 million Bantu speakers.
It is also kind of weird that they give numbers to the tenth part while using wild estimates. Turkey has 85 million inhabitants and up to 10 million native speakers outside of turkey. There are no official ethnicity numbers from turkey as ethnicity is not registered. Also no one knows how many turkish speakers exactly love outside of turkey. But they give us numbers to the tenth part? The situation will be similar for the other languages.

Surprised to learn that there were windows based Supercomputers.
I’d also have a look at Darktable.
Man, I wish he’d leave the communication to someone else. He is so, so bad at it. And this isn’t the first time
The way he attacks critics puts himself in a bad light. But much more importantly, I read this and am still unsure if he has administrative/legal reason, security reasons or political reasons…
If I’d work in Russian propaganda, I’d love this so much. Hope this will not cause disruption in the community.

Difficult to assess this info without knowing how the data was created.
Also, the politics of the current world empire will affect us all, no matter if you live in Mali, Malta or Malaysia.
I live in Germany and we are also currently sliding into authorianizm. The US politics defintly play a role as catalyzator.
