NB: setup a NAS with either nfs or smb/cifs or fish/sshfs for your home folder.
That way wherever or whatever distro you boot on your home network you can mount your home folder and relogin with all your data and configs in place. Replicate if you want local copies with rsync to avoid duplication and drift.
MMB is for quick-copy-paste and close-tab !!!
Cool! I might give that a try instead of the Ventoy i use regularly. Thanks for the info !
I use Ventoy regularly but im too lazy to setup Grub2 on a USB and load up isos.
Not sure who these Ventoy fanbois or bros are.
Yup Ventoy does hide binary blobs and has some dodgy devs and code. Use at own risk.
Also I dont have any sensitive stuff. So mostly Ventoy is used to install playground server isos and stuff. Not much use for it otherwise.
It is the same/similar problem that Nokia/Maemo and Sailfish/merOS have all had.
Some things are binary-blobs + NDAs and many things are still locked, the OSS community can only do so much before they hit the commercial roadblocks.
We need a complete CoreBoot + OSS silicon-chips + OSS firmware + all-community / all-commercial dual production lines.
The open-source-based company should be able to sell both the commercial locked-version and the oss-all-unlocked-version with the ability to switch infinitely between the two models.
But the world of electronics rarely will ever work or reach that level of interoperability , repairability or recycling this way. Not for a long time maybe in some distant future.
Even after using CPAN ? I found Perl to be much more “manageable” than Python.
Python with Venv and Pip at least works as expected. Which makes it easier.
I found installing Go-sdk a total PiTA. It is okay as a developer environment. But bash + gnu utils + core utils seem much more sane to me.
Of course I mostly work with Linux systems and hardly ever have to deal with Scripting for Windoze.
Agreed. The systemic exclusion of POC from benefits and advantages was rolled back just as POCs were becoming independent. It affected BOTH communities , POCs AND economically dis-advantaged equally.
So you had a substantial population with severe economic and political disadvantages being relentessly targetted by those in power.
Hence, the current top-1% control 80% upwards of everything.
I’ve been on Steam+Proton for more than 3 years now. So many many games are now supported. It is usually the DRM kernel anti-cheats that are Windoxez only tend to be the broken ones. I dont buy or care about games that run anti-cheat in Windoze kernel.
Harder R if you want the SlaveR to whip the SlaveE :'D
Also just kidding. I really really dont understand a lot of the sensitivity and sentiment against words. Words are NOT Violence as long as you agree to be civil and not militant.
Pastor and his muppets :'D Spoonerism got me on this one. :'D
Usually quorum is maintained by using odd numbering so that when one node fails the next sequential node assumes the role allowing quorum-election breaking any ties.
And red-lining districts, and bull-dozing new black towns for highways. etc etc etc
There are so many instances of going around laws just to disadvantage black/coloured people.
Pulling the ladder up after themselves and telling others to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
Many things were wrong, but language is where people draw the line, like … c’mon. Using slurs I can understand it is uncouth offensive. But master/slave in technical terms ??? NO ONE means the original meanings unless they are also crazy!
A master-drivetrain and a slaved-drivetrain … its not about slavery. I dont understand why people have to be so sensitive. We know human slavery is bad. So we dont do it. Same for a lot of instances of Animal slavery which is acceptable for a lot of people, we dont call it that, it is called “farming” or “husbandry”.

btw Im just kidding, I wanna trigger a vegan into a response :-D
Yes PATA IDE was the full old term. Now we have SATA ( SCSI ? or IDE? i dont remember ) .
PATA = Parallel - ATA SATA = Serial - ATA
No one in the Linux community wants to force users onto Linux. If they do that, then they are morons and should not be listened to.
Windows is blatantly forced on users through monopolistic practices and underhanded dealings going back decades.
I know what I actively will choose. Also it is my choice. It doesnt have to be your choice or even the right choice. Choose what you want and what you need. No one in the Linux community can or will force you to switch to Linux.
For some of us, X11/Xorg is better , way way better than using Wayland.
Linux means we should have a choice without sacrificing our freedom. So if I want to use X11/Xorg or Wayland, I SHOULD MAKE THAT DECISION.
Looking at the garbage trash fire that is systemd.
Only way I can get SysVInit back is if I use Slackware, Devuan , so a complete switch of distro and tools. No choice no freedom.
I can tell you for a fact, in 1999, we were running Windows3.11 and MSDOS 5.x on a brand-new Pentium II ? or something like that, because the DSP-board and daughter-card system didn’t like Win2k. We were all on the network. Everyone ran Win2k Pro while loading the test codes via network / SMB/CIFs share to that machine.
Same could be done using Linux on all those systems except for the test rig.
NO YOU DO NOT have to use Windows on your desktop just for your toolchain. Put that shit on a separate test-rig and isolate it.
Best Practices and Good Standard procedures makes it possible to use Linux on the Desktop.
It is a matter of ability and talent to do things properly using the best tools at any given time.
I wanna make LO look exactly like MSOFF and troll the hell outta every MSOFF user.
Also I wanna go back to IBM Lotus Symphony look. It was the best interface for me.
