If i recall, it’s the one managed by the community instead of the Mozilla Org
Why the hell would you maintain the original name when you know Nintendo is chasing forks?
Invite-only and no clear way to get said invites
Thanks! Need to see if they have documented their datasets AND are actually public
First i hear about it, any links?
Thanks!
Same
Revolt, can be self-hosted and all, not federated
I think my doubt was less “Can they do it?” (as i believe they can, should have in mind the transcoding limitation as i didn’t knew) and more “SHOULD you do it?” given that it’s gonna be filled with movies/series/whatever, and it’s still a megacorp product
I’ve used one of those Synology devices for something at work and really liked the interface and all that, everything worked well and without issues and with minimal admin required (which is my main issue, i don’t really wanna admin stuff in my free time), but will that work when what you want is to set up a NAS media server thing full of downloaded stuff despite being a commercial thing that may or may not phone home at some point in our sad enshittocene? I do believe it works for this but haven’t heard much in this community related to this, it’s usually people advocating to set up a normal machine as a NAS
Missing: instant preview. If the implementation is just syncing a file, then that works, otherwise it’s the same thing
Google was the freaking best years ago, i saw it and they WERE great, the corporation of today might not be evil but we have zero assurances about the future, and i DON’T wanna give that power over my online life to any corpo again.
Still, noted.
While it looks good, maybe it’s my ignorance but it feels like you’re replacing Google with somebody else that will have the same power over you, am i mistaken? I am very much against the “all your eggs in one basket” approach after Google so not sure if replacing it with these people won’t be a repeat of the same thing
I have reliably upgraded Mint in place the last, dunno, 5-6 major releases or so, works exactly as well as Ubuntu’s
I fully understand the argument and kinda agree. That said, here’s why i still use the Telegram self-chat just like OP, you can suggest a note-taking app replacement if you think:
Gimme a note taking app that has all these, that is not a big program needing lots of resources to run all the time, and that i can self-host for the server part (or E2EE P2P like Syncthing) and we’re cooking!
Since i use the self-chat on Telegram a lot i’ve wished for exactly the same thing in the past as i’m planning on leaving the service, so far haven’t found a right fit yet
Heh, hadn’t seen KDE like this in ages, it’s been a while
In that line, is there an open standards, no Google required answer to the Chromecast?
I am not, but it took me a year+ to move from Gmail to Proton after having a Gmail account since the start of the service, and after i was more or less settled in now comes this scandal, i will move but it will not be immediately, need to plan it well, and also likely use a custom domain to not need to change the address in the future
