13 years old forum post about this, with a reply from Nir Arbel, the founder:

Yeah, I can’t go into too much detail, but we have to filter certain things.
Unfortunately I can’t listen to podcasts. If I only listen to something without visual stimulation my mind start to think about unrelated things, and I just can’t follow what they speak about, I loose track after a while.
Before podcasts there were radio talk shows, I hated them similarly, and I tuned to another station where they were playing music.
There is a very good documentary about Aaron’s life: The Internet’s Own Boy

Thank you for adding NSFW flair. Noone should see the word “r*ddit”
You can have multiple accounts, maybe on different instances, and you can upvote with all of them. A lot of clients allow easy account switching, e.g. in voyager if you tap on your username on the bottom bar twice, it opens an account selector dialog.
I agree with the ball, it would be easier and more convenient to use virtualization, containers or something similar.
My friend did this once. Asked the seller to declare a smaller price on the package, than customs office asked for an invoice from my friend, and he just photoshopped the lower price to the invoice and submitted. It was from China to Europe, and not second hand, just a good guy seller from aliexpress. I guess if you do this frequently you can get into big trouble. But they don’t have the manpower to doublecheck everything
Your memories are fading, they are always an alliteration.
It’s name was Transgender Tapir.
I had to check if it’s the real name or a made up one. Stopped following Ubuntu naming around Bisexual Beaver
There are local trackers everywhere, try to get an invite to them. I’m Hungarian, we have several invite only trackers for dubbed movies and other local content. Even they are invite only, it’s really easy to get an invite as a lot of folks have account on them.
For that kind of content I would look for your local communities on reddit, fb or whatever social media is common in your country. Try to find out what others use, and try to get an invite there.
Fmhy has a list of non-english sources: https://fmhy.net/non-english
What is your use case, I 'm just simply interested.
My workflow for finding things, I know where I want to search it for, e.g. a torrent site or a specific forum or network, and search there. If I would search for something on a general search engine like those, even if it would give good results, I would have to weed out the fake and scam results. While if I search on an already reputable site or source I don’t have to deal with that.
As a native hungarian, I wouldn’t mind that. Árvíztűró tükörfúrógép.
I remember I watched one of the sw prequels with hardcoded Korean subs. My classmate burnt it to a dvd for me, and it was special because our early sony dvd player couldn’t play any non original disks but somehow he could work it around.
They still support them, they are just not on the landing page. You could select them during registration, maybe not all of them but I remember the African one from last time I created an airmail.cc address.
sidebar says unix is allowed and ios and macos are still unix. but this joke is so far from the theme of the community, you could change the ipad to a windows CE tablet from the 90s and the joke would still work. unix is just some background item here, casually mentioned
it would fit better in microblog memes or maybe math memes
I save the email address and phone numbers of the people I worked with to my address book. Why would I need linkedin for that. I read news of my profession from blogs in an rss reader, so I can stay up to date. I follow specific forums, and comment there frequently. Linkedin is just one more social shit you can live without perfectly fine. Of course if you don’t want to live without it, you can’t
I never said it wasn’t useful (mostly for headhunters and HR people), but it always had shady tactics and if you didn’t know it’s original purpose you could think it’s some not fully legal scam company…
Linkedin became known as a terrible platform when it spammed every email address the web, it was like 10 years ago. Than it was bought by M$. What did you expect? Suddenly a platform which is known for only bad things becomes the epitome of correctness?
No one should go to that website ever. But it’s true, we should have a dedicated piracy memes community, or do we already have one? But until lemmy is this small it wouldn’t help if the communities were even more fine grained.
