Nice to see they are finally trying to fix the blatant security flaws in UAC.

They are about as reliable as any random person online. If you wouldn’t trust the data from a person posting on social media, don’t trust the LLM.
I’m honestly not sure if a vegan cat diet is possible or not, but random people giving unqualified advice that could easily lead a less knowledgeable person to harm an animal is a problem. What should have been done in this case is for a mod or admin to shut the discussion down with a note telling people to consult a qualified veterinarian regarding any change to their pets diet.
It has been a few years, but I was once asked to implement 800-171. The document was aggressively vague and really the sort of thing that requires hiring a consultant to setup and probably at least one FTE to maintain. Thankfully our project was abandoned before I had to start looking for other employment just get away from the damn thing.
So I emphasize with Georgia Tech for not perfectly implementing the rules to the governments confusing standards.
However, the researchers refusal to run anti-virus even when required by the contract was just stupid. “Academic freedom” doesn’t mean anything when your grants are revoked or you get sued for millions over a breach. That said, they should have been able to work out some sort of “compensating control” to use instead of anti-virus and get that approved by the government.
What if we just count all the nanoseconds since 1601 and divide by 100.
I still don’t get that timestamp approach. Especially after learning how unix/linux handle it…
At least modern AD tools can automatically do the date conversions now.
I question the salt in boiling water one. Sure it probably doesn’t change the temperature or energy required but shouldn’t it aid in nucleation to make the boil more bubbly?
Or are the existing impurities in most tap water such that salt doesn’t add anything meaningful?
Not if aren’t familiar with control characters. Might was well be three seashells…
After nearly a year on lemmy, I’m guessing it was capitalism or maybe microsoft.
Could it just be that whistleblowing is intensely stressful and difficult (reporters, lawyers, harassment from former coworkers and company fanboys, difficulty finding new employment, etc.) I imagine all of that makes whistleblowers far more susceptible to disease and mental issues.
We need stronger whistleblower protection laws. Not just in case companies put out a hit, but also to help the whistleblowers endure and recover from doing the right thing…
So which OS is which religion? Right now I’m thinking unix=Judaism (older, predecessor to newer oses), linux=Christianity (distros=demominations, roots in unix.), macos=Islam(jobs is their prophet, roots in unix). Not sure about Windows. I guess maybe it could be Christianity and Linux Hindu or Buddhist…
Do you have any idea how many denominations of Christianity there are? And most of them are open source.
Does this make the heroine a nano user? If so, some time in a vim type dungeon would probably do her some good.
It is not even a thin client for Azure. It is a physical front end for one specific, Azure based VM product. It doesn’t even support AVD which would have made it interesting for lab and classroom setups and given it a bit more utility.
