If you think about it, what would be the punishment for someone that killed thousands of innocent people in the US? I guess it would be a death sentence. So the person that killed that CEO did exactly the job a non compromised US federal estate had to do.

The answer (IMO) is to open another channel and announce it so people can migrate. And start using more the other channels, using each time FB/X a little less, until (almost) everyone has left FB/X.
That’s one thing that should be upgraded. There has to be a way to link your accounts in Lemmy, PixelFed, Mastodon, … so “follow” becomes “follow with” and choose the service.

That’s why I think having a decentralized network where one of the instances belongs to the government is a good idea. If the government is only another player and not the only ruler it’s safer for the network. But it’s the same for every big company. I don’t want another Meta or Google.
