The issue I was having was getting a hyper-v host to connect to an iscsi array on a nimble. That first result was pretty much exactly what I needed. It didn’t highlight it in the preview, but it was on the page once I opened it.

442·4 months agoI’m starting to give up on Google. I’ve literally copy and pasted the same error message in Google, DuckDuckGo, and Kagl.
Google will respond with “no results found” while the others will actually give me a response.
Or the docs are just out of date and literally don’t mention this feature added 2 years ago.
4·4 months agoUnifi. I’ve got a box of APs as ewaste just sitting in the basement. Every so often I would get more ewaste from companies I work with.
I don’t need the most demanding of wifi systems. I hardwire most of my stuff whenever possible. And I have a fairly small home. A single AP on the main floor, 1 AP on the basement. 1 AP in the detached garage.
Most of my wifi devices are iot things on their own vlan.

I don’t really like having to connect a monitor and keyboard when working on my servers now.
Storage is really limited for TV and movies though if you are running Plex.
If you want to host something like libre office, just remember how important backups actually are. If you take the risk of hosting business documents, make sure you do everything necessary to protect them.
31·5 months agoUtopias are inherently dystopian in they only work when everyone wants the same things and everyone is bound by strict rules. There is no such thing as a utopia.
These places have their goods and bads.
Disney in the past weren’t nearly so exploitive and expensive. They truly did give an extremely fun and entertaining experience to the guests. They did much better at treating their employees. They have pushed technological boundaries on the entertainment front. They built parks that have genuinely made millions happy. They aren’t perfect as a corporation and I have a shitload of gripes with their management and leadership, but they put out a pretty damn good product.
Nowadays, they do underpay and over charge. They are cashing in on nostalgia and not doing enough to foster that in the next generation. They’re no longer targeting family fun but are instead putting more towards the mid-20s to late 30s market. I haven’t felt it was worth the money in a long time.
Sea world. While they have done terrible things especially in the Orcas, they also put on a very, very entertaining theme park. They do fund a lot of research and coastal animal refuges.
Growing up in southern California. Disneyland was common, and so common that I ended up working there. It’s changed a lot in the last twenty years.
I still go to Disneyland regularly, but it’s always because I know someone that can still get me and my family in. I’m fortunate that I haven’t paid to go to Disneyland in over 16 years, and I’ve been hundreds of times. Now, I typically get disappointed when I’m there. I’ve seen the parks go downhill and the prices go way, way up.
I’ve been to Sea World growing up, since it was a two hour drive. And Lego Land. And Six Flags.
It’s not the parks that are spoiled, it’s the flights and hotels that make these things wild trips for spoiled kids.
2·6 months agoI’ve made a few things. One, Mickey shaped cabinet hardware I put up for free because I didn’t want to deal with Disney. Though I might put the raw print up on Etsy or something just because.
Another is a frame to turn a Disney name tag into an ornament. I’m selling the completed product rather than releasing the design because I wanted to really offer it to people who didn’t have 3d printers and wanted to ensure that it met my standards. And I didn’t want competition. That said, it takes quite a lot of time to print, prep, sand, and paint. I spend a couple hours in finishing each and sell it at a price that… Totally doesn’t make it worth it.
10·7 months agoHaving lived in California, so much of their rain water actually just runs down the sewers. It’s so hard for the water to absorb into their soil because it’s become just baked into almost a crust. Having green space will probably make it easier for water to penetrate into the soil and be retained in the soil.
On her computer, why not just use Thunderbird on it? Or even outlook, or whatever she likes. She just needs to pick the software.
On her phone, or even yours, why the stuff with accessing Thunderbird through vnc. Just add the server to whatever mail app on your phones?
If you want a web based thing, roundcube or sogo. But Thunderbird is gonna suck the way you are trying to use it.
Stupid rspamd default config on my server blocked an email confirming an order from rayban I guess because it was the first time it saw an email from them? Couldn’t even release it, which annoyed me greatly.
And it also put a confirmation from a hotel into quarantine because the resort didn’t have a valid spf record. But at least I could release that one.
I ended up making it much more permissive as a result. But it was super annoying.
0·8 months agoIt’s got a hell of a datacenter.
From LA to Vegas. Took the servers down end of business one night, drove it all night, installed it and got it back online before start of business the next day.
In the middle of something 200tb for my Plex server going from a 12 bay system to a 36 LFF system. But I’ve also literally driven servers across the desert because it was faster than trying to move data from one datacenter to another.
I learned nginx when I was hosting websites. I had it set up and running when it was time to add reverse proxies into my setup. It didn’t take much more from the virtual hosts I was already using.
Now, I don’t host many individual sites anymore and haproxy has a plugin on my firewall for the handful of services I run now.
The issue is with regenerative braking and single pedal operation of EVs. Many vehicles today will essentially brake if you aren’t on the accelerator.
Personally, I think it’s a gap in design/regulation. But not as simple as brake pedals.
