  • I’ve been using Plex many years. I abandoned it about 1-2 years ago when they began their enshittification journey. Now I see they are continuing to double down on being assholes.

They do not need any more resources to allow people to use what already exists. Most people run their own servers, and, they track all that by the way. Hence why people moved away from it.

Don’t give them your money. Let them rot. They fucked their user base who built them.

I installed a Windows 11 update. Office no longer worked. Office refused to re-install despite trying a huge number of things. It literally refuses to install. Tried their help tool which even does removal of old references in the system. Failed 5 times.

Tried using the web version for a simple thing. First localization struggle which doesn’t carry across sessions. Excel column formatted to number. Then to currency. Then to general. Autosum shows #Div!0 still. Tried seeing if the AI could help. Have to re-login. (Using Mozilla this whole time btw). After re-login, ai tool says stop using private mode. I’m not…

Literally trying to do the simplest autosum on about 25 lines and it can’t function.

Installed LibreOffice. No problem with ‘Excel’.

I’m really not exaggerating. I saw online a similar issue and the guy had to reinstall the entire OS to get office to work again 🤨

  • It’s funny, but as an adult now… I’m more concerned my ADHD is like this. It’s so annoying. I don’t even mean to do it. I set out to clean my desktop computer files and the next thing I know I’m painting the garage. Oh and ESPECIALLY if something is important. My mind creates these distractions or ‘focuses’ which allow me to fully set my mind on something, as long as it’s to avoid doing something else… 🤦‍♂️

  • This is what I like to see. Not just heels digging in, but explanations as to why, the follow-ups, the investigation of options and follow through. Thanks for the transparency. Piracy has and won’t ever go away. I used to pirate due to lack of money and resources. When I had those I went legit. When legit sources started turning into:

    • monthly subscriptions for everything
    • when legit sources suddenly delete or remove content from their systems (to avoid paying taxes?)
    • when the rates go up for everything (internet access AND streaming services)
    • now ads in your paid services unless you pay more (Amazon)
    • Plex trying to go legit and police where and how people run their private streaming, fucking over license holders who built the financial footing they could stand on in the first place. Cool.

You can’t rely on any shit from these services, except for one shit… enshittification.

I don’t want to sound negative, but as a consumer, it’s been nothing but ads rammed down our throats from everywhere we go and look. They lie, they change rates, they shrinkflate, while their pockets get bigger. Long live piracy.
