more dev than sysop, but: bitwarden
Abolutely necessarily.
it works like this:
@privateuser@mastodon.example.com
has a “followers only account”.@someuser@pixelfed.example.com
is a friend of above account, requested access and was granted. This now causes mastodon.example.com
to push all messages of @privateuser
to pixelfed.example.com
.@anotheruser@pixelfed.example.com
requests access, but gets ignored. But the pixelfed instance marks the user as “follows @privateuser
”@someuser
, the messages are shown as expected.@anotheruser
, they are also shown. Because PF basically does a database “select messages of users that the user follows”, without checking if the access was ever granted.Important to note, that this would not happen, if the messages weren’t already pushed to the server due to the “allowed” user
ActivityPub is a half-assed unfinished mess.
tried working on my own service and figured this one out very fast.
It’s amazing that it works at all. 98% of the stuff is not documented at all. and the stuff that is, can hardly be called documentation.
that’s the problem. you can’t really, without opening the image.
But so far, it doesn’t really appear to be a problem
the problem with this potential issue (if it indeed is one) is, that you don’t need to reply. just opening the DM is enough
fwiw I got the exact image URL in a DM a couple minutes ago. so at least they are not mapping the uuid of the image to a DMd fedi user
no, it’s a decentralised service on the decentralized internet
Saving for later
While on the topic of masto poll games: we need more active participants over at Fedi Plays Pokemon:
Tuxedo is a bit hit or miss. Used one for 2 years and wasn’t happy with the case quality. The plastic basically broke at some edges and screw holes
The hardware also wasn’t as Linux compatible as they claim. 5Ghz wifi just didn’t work reliably. With their support page saying the fix is to disable 5Ghz
I host several masto instances
Not sure which is more painful
Reddit still has them. And already rolled back edits where useful
Basically by being (often pretentious) assholes.
But if you scroll his timeline a bit (it really isn’t that much), you can see similar discussions
yeah, it’s quite close
Not even Myspace AOL. This is chain mail material
On pure mathematical basis, I can see it, yes
But given the fact that birth rates are not evenly distributed across the year, it’s probably not the case in reality
Their TOS seem to state otherwise, if the screenshot in Louis’ video is to be believed. Looks like they are keeping themselves an option
They wanted people switching over from big name software to feel right at home
