  • Kids mess with those ants when they’re 5 and are fine. Sure it hurts but not really different to a bee.

The only one I’d say the average Australian has above average exposure to is jellyfish, assuming they go to the beach even semi regularly. But I mean, they just float around, they aren’t coming for you on the attack.

Spiders there’s only 2-3 anyone actually worries about, they’re rarely seen and even more rarely bite anyone. Same for snakes. You also won’t die even if you do get bit unless you can’t make it to a hospital/contact help for a very long time.

Crocodiles are barely a concern outside select areas (eg think whether the average American would be concerned about alligators at all).

Kangaroos can theoretically attack but generally want to keep to themselves. But also to give you an idea how much of a non issue they are there are zoos that don’t even have them in pens, they just roam around with the people.

Edit: one thing I probably didn’t make clear, the average Australian probably does see a high amount of spiders, what I meant is the average Australian doesn’t typically see the actually dangerous spiders. I’ve seen them maybe 2-3 times in almost 40 years.

  • He was born in 89 which is very close to my age. Most people my age that are kind of techy but don’t do it as a job or main hobby probably tried Linux around 2010 or so, at which time it was rubbish for gaming, and wrote it off as impractical. It absolutely makes sense for someone that hasn’t tried it since then to say “now” when referring to its ability to play most games well, because it’s relative to when they last tried it.

  • Disagree, if every user of these 10 apps did this it would end up a lot better for them all than every user choosing their favourite and giving them $50. If they choose randomly it would end up roughly the same, but in general people are going to end up skewing towards certain apps over others when forced to choose a favourite.

And if doing it randomly ends up the same as splitting it on a large scale, I think this is the more sensible approach personally.

  • I do stremio + torrentio addon + real Debrid.

Interface and features on par with any modern streaming service (continue watching, new episode alerts, library, categories, search etc), every show and movie all in one app, full speed, no need for VPN or worry about seeds (I’ve found shows with 0 seeds that work because it was cached on real Debrid) for $3/month.

Also supports a ton of devices/TV’s. Dead simple to use once it’s set-up, my parents and in laws both use it with no issue on Chromecast with Google TV after I set it up for them.

Oh and if you don’t want to pay you can forget real Debrid and it’ll still stream torrents at the cost of slightly worse loading times (but entirely usable, I did it for 3 years) but if you live somewhere that you feel the need to use a VPN for that, unless you also use the VPN for something else putting that money into real Debrid instead is worth it.
