I think theres a middle ground. For instance, it’s kinda like a bulletin board. We go there to see what people are saying.
I’d be interested in a study on this.
Most conjoined twins don’t survive. Some do and live atypical lives. My argument is that, 1 brain cannot control 2 bodies, and 2 brains cannot control 1 body. In A&B’s case, their core organs are approaching 1:1, and each controls a couple extremities on their respective side.
You are correct. The brain is woven into our core, but that also strengthens the idea that a person will always be a person.
Lemmy isn’t a UI, it’s just data. Each app that connects to lemmy (not instances in the fediverse, but apps that let you sign into a lemmy account) has their own interface. A person can (and probably has) made an app with a modern interface for lemmy.
We are not confined to a specific app or interface, anyone can interface with Lemmy and present the data in their own way.
Because images and video were definitive proof at one point, but even before AI, they can be altered with image software.
Is that Hogwarts?
You make a good point about killing for food. I’m against killing animals for food and would rather we switch to lab grown meat. It’s not fair to the animals that were created plump and killed unnaturally for the sake of eating. If it’s a survival situation, that’s different, you do what you can to survive. However, modern society is beyond simple survival, we have the resources and means to eliminate animal meat.
But then it begs the question “what about plants? They’re alive right?” Also “what about lab meat? Even though they’re not a full animal, it’s still living matter.”
To both those arguments, I’d say, yes, it’s still not fair to those lifeforms, however it is much more humane to kill lifeforms without a brain, and that only exist to reproduce. Animals have emotions that we can understand. Fear, joy, and content. They are intelligent. Plants and lab meat are not.
They’re cinnamon :)
