Funny seeing NixOS being touted as an efficient OS when it’s the ultimate coomfiger’s OS
I dump my encrypted data to someone who probably practices 3-2-1 rule (which is Backblaze for me). I mean, these guys back up data for a living.
Grub entry missing and Nvidia driver installation not going smoothly did happen to me, though the former is somewhat independent of the distro.

Same here. I spent last month transitioning all my servers to NixOS and it feels so comfy! I do a small test on my desktop when I do something that might break stuff first, and then add it to server’s config later.
--target-host
and --use-remote-sudo
makes it even better too.
If you’re considering (something) + Syncthing, try Orgmode. It looks like Markdown but has a lot of features for note management and navigation.
They are always well versed in colour theory, or at least it feels like that. Really jealous that they can get any colour working, but I can’t even with the help of those online palette generators.
That dpkg lock issue 😭
I still don’t know what’s the proper way of handling it other than just restarting the computer and deleting the lock files, then hope nothing breaks.
Fair number of FPS games refuses to work. Apex recently just did that. Other than that, none. Really happy my personal setup works so well.
Thank you!
Can you do something with syncserver-rs alone? Even after I log in with Mozilla account and setting sync server URL to point to mine, nothing appears in the database.
I’m considering setting up my own instance with an instance-wide ban on all political contents… It’s annoying to deal with those political posts with super vague title so it bypasses the keyword filter.
I forgot you can get Factorio from Steam…
You need to package all dynamically linked executables because NixOS disables them by design. It’s to prevent two programs not working because they depend on different versions of a single library. But it’s not helpful when you have a program you need to run, and you need it real soon.
In terms of whether Factorio runs or not, it does run. You have to add that configuration though.
Still, if you are familiar with Linux and don’t usually get that “I need a program running ASAP” situations, it is a great OS to learn. I can recommend them.
Not gonna lie, that must be one hell of an obscure (or new) song if it’s not available on Soulseek. If your song happen to be Japanese, try Ototoy.jp. That’s where I get most of my FLAC albums.
Avoro is really cheap and I can recommend them. If you are student, you might want to look into GitHub Student pack, which includes DigitalOcean credits.
I would assume the “rendezvous” instance would collect all posts from all communities it is subscribed to, and show them to the users as if it came from a single instance. So moderation would be limited to the moderators of the actual instance behind it.
The explorer makes it easier to discover them, but would be even better if that’s automated.
You can access your laptop remotely if you set up Tailscale and register your laptop with them. It’s a VPN, so it’s like having your laptop and other registered devices connected to a local Wi-Fi all the time.
