Mormons definitely deserve a lot of the bad rap they get, what with the overbearing patriarchal whatever they’ve got going. But they can usually be counted on to feed people.

Ya the thumb drive was a tripping point for me. Took me a minute to understand I had to reformat the drive itself. I also didn’t try to partition anything.

I switched to Linux mint because I don’t want to think about those things. I barely know how to use the terminal, and probably won’t anytime soon. I just pulled the apps I needed off the software manager. I’m as happy as a clam in shit.

An OS that just works, without the constant bullshit that capitalism breeds always encroaching. It does what I want when I want it, no more no less.

Mint. It’s not sexy. But it always just works. Never had an update break anything. I’ve got an Nvidia card, which ppl said was notorious for not working with Linux, it just works. The installer just reached out and grabbed the appropriate drivers, so easy. Have yet to have a steam game not work.

10/10 would recommend for anyone.

I disagree that writing essays isn’t important. It seems to me half the point of having a college degree is that it tells people you are able to take a complex situation or idea, and turn it into a digestible, concise document that can be picked up and understood by a stranger. Essay writing is a cornerstone of any literate society. If I were to hire a college grad who couldn’t write an email or a letter I would think real hard about hiring any other alums.

Idk about EA, but I’m running mint and steam works great with proton. Super duper user friendly.

I use mint. Everything works without too much fuss. Certainly easier than dealing with an endless stream of corpo shenanigans. It works quicker than windows ever did.

As someone who grew up in northern areas, not really. In fall or spring (Oct, or April) when the sun has a better angle you can notice. But the rest of the winter when the sun’s at a slant? Not so much.

I run mint on my “home entertainment center”. Just an old laptop with a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Granted I don’t use it for much, but once I had mint on it, I’ve only used the desktop environment. Mostly because I’m leaning back in a slothful, shameful lump, and this is not conducive to typing. So I spend way too long pecking at things with the mouse.

Pain in the ass? Yes.

Way more tedious and time consuming? Yes

Possible? Also yes
