I love it for long running services eg *ardar + Plex but the desktop is nearly unusable.

Ubuntu out of the box requires you to install pulse audio, grab your device id via cli, and then run a script at bottom to set that device as the default speaker.

Ubuntu out of the box needs scripting just to deal with an audio source that gets turned off and on. And zealots will scream it’s ready for everyone on steam to use.

I also think the “confusion” of fediverse is overblown. People aren’t confused. First adopters who don’t want to be screamed at by flying squid aren’t telling friends and family to join.

There are pros and cons to this but big tech has realized they can bury classic medical informatics companies on the small cheap medical stuff. Watches such monitor vitals, thermometers, hearing aids, snoring and breathing, etc. All of it is desired by the mass market. I bought my dad a pixel watch after he had his bypass is a (arguably) useful device that can actually save your life.

I get that I can hit the button. It drives away people in general. People do not like filling out reports. Having to block, report, and moderate your own content is work. Users value having most of that done for them.
