Have you heared about Kondratiev‘s waves yet? Indeed we‘re at the end of the IT cycle. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Kondratiev
The new infrastructure cycle for next 40 years is something like renewable energy/ reusable materials, I assume
Don‘t you call a „bad“ underdog in other words? Just like gangster, criminal, activist, terrorist, …
18 citations is not much for a paper, though.
Anyway, besides a statistical approach is proved out of logical reasons, that you can’t know what you don’t know. Beginners in a field never have the overview of the entire play ground. So, they can’t know what they don’t know.
He had this Eureka moment in the shower realizing the fact.
I‘m refering the title with „control“ However, bringing thoughts & feelings into the direction you like to, compared to be just overwhelmed, is a sort of control.
Meditation is one way of getting control of your brain.
Yoga and Tai Chi is a way of control your brain by focusing on your body.
Recite a mantra is another way.
Daily routines is also an auto-pilot way of getting control of your brain. (This one is good if you have trouble getting asleep(
You can train those methods consciously and understand the mechanics of how the controls work. Once understood and footpaths set (meditation, daily routines), you can switch between these controls if needed. Or force a thought reset (mantra)
It’s not a secret and known since ages. It’s just that people are too lazy to train. And may be prefer the comfortable auto-pilot way of living.
Still - take with care. Lost one friend to psilos & Lsd (he couldn’t adjust to reality anymore), another one lost to alcohol and the last one for all the other mixed shit. Waiting for the fourth lost soul.
Not advocating being sober - I‘m older than 40 and happy that weed is legal in Germany now and sometimes a smiley pill. I‘m just saying - take it with care.
As for lucid dreams not having body feelings, being completely produced by the mind? I guess I’d like to see a source on that.
Source: Some books of Carlos Castaneda who taught me lucid dreaming https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Castaneda
Btw I said you that you aren’t feel the REAL body senses in your lucid dreams. For sure, one can dream/ hallucinate some. Though it’s rarely standards such as a foot on ground, a hand on door knob or such. That’s too boring. It’s more about flying, diving, running, and so on.
I’m not sure what all your other points are about. What are you trying to say or prove? Do you second the former threads argument, that
‘reality’ is just the shared aspects of our hallucincations that we agree on.
I do not support this view. Reality and interactions with reality is real and not hallucinated.
Nice world. Please try exploring interaction with people in real life. Somehow you need it, don’t you think?
I found this trick in lucid nightmares working well: Talk with the monster. Do some small talk „What’s your name? Do you have sisters?“ It will „distract“ them and leads to a different flow in your mind. Actually, you are re-setting the atmosphere in your mind. It’s a bit as how mantras work.
This view is outdated and goes back to Descartes‘ view out of the window. No, we‘re not in our head observing the outer sphere.
We‘re within the sphere/ world and interact through our body. We influence and got influenced. We position ourselves by our body movements in the world. There is no such thing as we‘re just our mind. We are a mind-body-thing.
In lucid dreams there‘re no body feelings as it’s in your mind only. That is btw. one of the control mechanisms :to check if your body sleeps but your mind not. If you don’t feel the bed and duvet on your skin. Another check is writings. There‘re never the same, they aren’t consistent.
„A specific technique on how to achieve it“, it usually a process patent. This can be circumvented and erases the protection. If the defined process is A>B>C>D and your process is A>E>C>D, then this does not touch the patent as it’s a different process.
Also I second your comments that patents often block innovation if not used or licensed too expensive, imI would like to share a different perspective on this.
In pharmacy, the research, development and testing of new medication takes years and costs tons of money. If a drug is out of patent, generic drugs made in India for a fraction of the costs in developed countries. Typically the original producer stops the production as they can’t succeed the race down.
If there won’t be patents that protect inventions, there won’t be medical research in developed countries. Antibiotics is one example where the broken incentive for medical industry to invent already became obvious. There are no new antibiotics anymore. Since years.
Imho, it’s not this good/bad thing with patents. It’s rather a „how you use it“
Good points. Im not sure if social progress is bound to technological progress but think it’s interlinked somehow. Our social progress is worth the overall progress, to be honest.
I’m entering the 50 soon - grown up with C64 - and thinking a lot about my kids and my childhood. It’s so much better for kids nowadays.
All the brutality and all the loneliness has gone. Thanks to Me-Too. Still so many kids at my age have been beaten, so many young girls abused in my generation. I’m talking with my friends about this nowadays. The generation of my parents are even worse. Still trying to talk with them about their childhood. Remember this was the generation grown up by facists&racists after the WW2.
No backbone those flappers
I second your proposal. Just call them all „Bart“ and „ Maggie“ if female
I‘m the one with that rope. A Lemmnja.
That is a bit how humans always explained human experiences - by explaining it through how modern technology works.
Years ago it were mechanical mechanisms that explained how we think. Before that it was a pinhole camera. Today it is information technology.
But that‘s not how humans think, interact, and live in the world. You’re model doesn’t explain why some people are boring and some are meszmerising. Some spoken words can resonate with your body and emotion (think of songs) some not. Some people such as Italians speak with hands and gestures as well and need it to understand the other.
That‘s why for me web calls are okay for just some information sharing but when it comes to even more intense and effective exchange, humans have to be in one room - to be in wave.
With just showing an idea, the problem is that humans aren’t in your head and see the world through the windows of the eyes (pinhole camera concept). Humans interact and move and see the world. That’s btw one of the breakthroughs in robotics - moving robots can much better interact with the world.
Wow, is Soulseek still alive? One of my favorite P2P in early times of MP3
