I was looking for a post on Lemmy yesterday with a vague couple of keywords, used Kagi with “Fediverse forums” lens and bam, right there at the top was the post I was looking for, from a year ago! I couldn’t believe it.
It’s like how everyone used to search Reddit with site:reddit rather than using the reddit search. Except you can’t do that too easily for Lemmy because of all the instances. But the Kagi lens does a pretty impressive job of solving that.
Eh I don’t even need to think about this anymore. I have a cron job that backs up every March 31st.

Isn’t the narrowing part the not bold bit, that specifically says it’s about your use of Firefox? As in you save bookmarks which are synced via Firefox servers. It needs to be a worldwide license in order to allow them to store that data on their CDN. It needs to be royalty-free because that it saying you can’t ask Firefox for money because they have your data. Non-exclusive is them saying they aren’t claiming you can’t also give the right to others.
I would be less concerned about the part in bold and much more concerned about what they are allowed to do with that data.
I use Borgmatic for my scheduled backups, and sync to Backblaze B2 with Rclone. Works great!
My data doesn’t compress as well as yours though.
Docker wants you to use volumes. That data is persistent too. They say volumes are much easier to backup. I disagree, I much prefer the bind mounts, especially when it comes to selective backups.

Overnight cron to stop containers, run borgmatic, then start the containers again.
I occasionally have had permissions issues but I tend to be able to fix them. Normally it’s just a matter of deleting the files on the host and letting the container create them, though it doesn’t always work it usually does.
I don’t know if this is naughty but I use bind mounts for everything, and docker compose to keep it all together.
You can map directories or even individual files to directories/files on the host computer.
Normally I make a directory for the service then map all volumes inside a ./data directory or something like that. But you could easily bind to different directories. For example for photoprism I mount my photos from a data drive for it to access, mount the main data/database to a directory that gets backed up, and mount the cache to a directory that doesn’t get backed up.
Let’s be honest here, if it was as close as you’re implying, a solid 50% or more of people would not have avoided the accident. Just look around when you’re out driving and see how many people are paying that close attention. I still think auto braking is better than nothing. Remembering cars have ABS and you’d still be able to steer around as needed. Presumably the car would let you override by pressing the accelerator.
The benefit to cars auto braking is that cars can start braking a second before a person, with a much quicker reaction period. Plus we saw in your video how many people driving are paying attention 😅.
But this is not an argument for self driving, cars can and do have this function with the driver also paying attention for the best of both worlds.
This is actually a perfect use case for a car controlling itself. Automatically applying emergency brakes is something cars (not just self driving cars) have been doing for a while now (in higher end cars).
The thing that puts me off a Tesla (other than the owned by a nazi who bought his way into government thing) is that the fatality rate is double the average, and the weird doors that unless you have been explicitly shown the emergency handle, you’re trapped inside after an accident because the normal door opening latch loses power as part of requirements to not electrocute emergency personnel.
The Cybertruck is scarier, because the emergency personnel will struggle to break a window to get you out or use the jaws of life to cut you out on account of the armoured doors and bullet proof windows.
If I’m honest I’m actually wondering why none if those drivers were paying attention. Cars blow tyres or otherwise stop, it’s not limited to misbehaving teslas. The tesla wasn’t braking hard and suddenly, it just slowed down.
In my mind the drivers should have been paying more attention.

There isn’t really a reason for the app not to fake your journey through the tunnel. It knows you’re about to enter a tunnel, and it knows you will probably lose GPS signal. It should just show you driving through that tunnel until an estimated time you should exit, then if you don’t reconnect in time it should pause at that spot until you catch up.
Only when the enable it 😆. We are also here waiting with excitement but it’s nice to know there is someone else that can be the guinea pig 😋
Ah I didn’t know about the android logs. Next time it happens I’ll check them. Normally I’m not near access to the server when it happens.
I just tried to force android to kill it but I opened up 20 other apps and when I switched back it was still active so I guess I’ll just have to wait.

I run LibreELEC on an old laptop strapped to the back of my TV, with a PC connected remote to control it. It works really well but I always get the feeling it can do so much more than I use it for.
I sync with Jellyfin using the addon, but don’t do much other than that. And must have things I don’t know exists?

My kids use Chromebooks at school. What I call “Word” they call “Docs”. It’s very clear why Google gives this operating system away for free.
