You have insulted one of my greatest loves in a way I can never forgive.
Yes of course I’m talking about fucking ice cream
Don’t forget real, well-tested HDR and VR support on all GPUs out of the box.
The year of the Linux desktop will happen when a large company decides to donate a remarkable amount of resources to the development and maintenance of a specific distro to make it user friendly and give it the feeling that someone who actually knows better than most users is taking care of important stuff in the background.
…Valve? 👀
I installed Bazzite Nvidia edition and HDR worked fine (after manually configuring gamescope) and then one day the HDR options for my monitor in the display settings panel disappeared and gamescope’s HDR stuff stopped working and I still can’t figure out why.

I gave it a shot and it was stuttering really bad multiple times per second. I’m sure if I worked on it more it would work better but I haven’t looked into it too much yet. That’s why I said “good support” since whatever it is right now is not as good as it could be
HDR support and good VR support.
I suppose another way to say that while also outing myself as a real corporate shill is “better Nvidia support”
Holy shit. I’ve been wondering about this for so long
That’s what I was thinking too. Regretting investing so heavily in Nvidia for sure right now
oooooooohohohohohoho you really got me with that last one.
Though at least I’m only addicted to R6: Siege and not CoD or Valorant like a fucking pleb
Edit: a MASSIVE /s I do unironically love Siege and it is actually what’s keeping Windows installed on my PC, but I admit it’s in no way a good reason to keep malware on my machine
This is a fantastic guide. Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to try this
The number of times I have had the Windows shutdown process tell me “please close <some windows process that I never opened> before shutting down” is fucking annoying. Wipe your own ass, Windows.
Don’t count out the DIY crowd
Guess I’ll add Nvidia drivers to the list of things holding me back lol
Maybe I’ll dual boot and keep all my HDR, Anti-cheat-riddled, and VR games on Windows and put everything else on Linux
Wow I never even thought to ask - does SteamVR work on Linux? Like the Valve Index in particular? I’ve been meaning to switch but Windows’ HDR support has been holding me back. If there isn’t a good distro for VR that could be another factor
Look, I love the idea of Linux but unless you have your head in the sand it’s obvious that Linux takes a good deal of technoliteracy to use.
When I first saw HDR on an OLED monitor, it wasn’t everything I thought people were making it out to be but over time it really grew on me. DOOM Eternal, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Cyberpunk 2077 have so much color, and the way the light pops makes it all just pure eye candy.
Tim Apple presenting it like it’s a portal [to a new era of mobile computing] is exactly what would happen lol
Schrodinger’s Delayed/Rumored Game: while unreleased it is both the perfect game and the worst game of all time. You won’t know until it’s released.
