Habit. A huge part of my addiction is simply the act of taking a break and inhaling some vapour. I smoked for 6 years and now have vaped for 8 years. Sure the patch or other alternatives will get me my nicotine but they dont satisfy the need to have something in my hand and inhale.
Yes it’s not a good habit but that’s my business.

I haven’t used Ubuntu since around 2014, so I couldn’t give you a proper comparison tbh. Sorry!
What I can say is that my entire Steam library basically just works, and has since the day I installed Bazzite. I have more trouble with non-steam games though, EA app and battle.net games can be finicky at times, you just gotta mess with different proton/wine versions until they work, but they do all eventually work, at least for me. I don’t play much MP games outside of Starcraft 2, Overwatch 2, Helldivers 2, and Space marine 2, so if you play any MP games I don’t play, then your mileage may vary.
I’m extremely happy with Bazzite, it’s made me a true Linux convert, which is why I want to dip my toes into Arch in the form of CachyOS while keeping Bazzite as a backup in case I fuck something up!
Tbh the bigger instances need to bite the bullet and defederate from .ml. There are alternatives to all the good comms on .ml, they just aren’t as active. Defederating would move a lot of users onto the alternatives and get some control back from the terrible .ml mods and admins.
Banning people from multiple completely unrelated comms for something that happened in one comm is bullshit and they abuse the hell out of that. I generally try not to participate in any .ml comm because of that.
.ca is good as well, the admin is top tier and very transparent with the userbase. I’m quite happy with my instance.

That’s completely fair, I don’t begrudge anyone for using .world, that’s a very good reason to use .world tbh. There are other stable instances though, and I’m gonna shill for my own instance, the .ca admin is top tier and very transparent with the userbase. They straight up said -
“The community is what makes this happen. IMHO any major decision that impacts all of you, should involve all of you.”
Rare to find an admin like that IMO, .ca is where it’s at.
Move to a different instance. Honestly, .world is too big and has too much influence. I get most people just wanna join the biggest instance but tons of other instances federate with .world so you can still have the content without the majority convening on one instance and giving them most of the power.
What would happen if .world went down? Tons of accounts and communities would be lost, people need to spread out to different instances instead of trying to make .world reddit 2.0.

Ten forward is a good example, the big posters in c/risa got fed up with the mods and made ten forward on Lemmy.world. Now I almost never see risa anymore but ten forward is always on the front page.
