  • You should be ashamed of defending this murderous system that has left us no peaceful recourse due to regulatory capture of both parties and therefore no vote to end it ever. Vote Red, vote blue, it’s a vote for murder for profit either way. We don’t get a vote on our murderous economy, just the social symptoms that don’t effect quarterly metastasis expectations.

You would have this healthcare insurance confidence scam murder their marks who trusted them and paid them in advance in perpetuity when they actually need care and become a threat to profits.

People like you get more offended when people are murdered in a straightforward manner than with a confidence scheme and a claim denial letter. At least a gun is demonstrating honest intent that isn’t trying to gaslight people into shutting up as it ends their life prematurely.

  • I hear what you’re saying, and yeah all communities have a narrative, I’ve been reprimanded on L/climate for the exact opposite, questioning where all the unearned optimism was coming from.

But the format is topics, and you do need to fit the topics, so I get it based on the community. That said, what I cannot stand is someone’s opinion being elevated on the basis of them being a celebrity, or an influencer. I prefer not to consume content through the prism of knowing of the person who said it. If Kim Kardashian has something she thinks is clever to say, let her say it without her name behind it to see if it sinks or swims on whether people read the comment and found it clever/relevant/worth propagating with an upvote or not.

They just want to make an economy they don’t have to pay anyone to profit from. That’s why slavery became Jim Crow became migrant labor and with modernity came work visa servitude to exploit high skilled laborers.

The owners will make sure they always have concierge service with human beings as part of upgraded service, like they do now with concierge medicine. They don’t personally suffer approvals for care. They profit from denying their livestock’s care.

Meanwhile we, their capital battery livestock property, will be yelling at robots about refilling our prescription as they hallucinate and start singing happy birthday to us.

We could fight back, but that would require fighting the right war against the right people and not letting them distract us with subordinate culture battles against one another. Those are booby traps laid between us and them by them.

Only one man, a traitor to his own class no less, has dealt them so much as a glancing blow, while we battle one another about one of the dozens of social wedges the owners stoke through their for profit megaphones. “Women hate men! Christians hate atheists! Poor hate more poor! Terfs hate trans! Color hate color! 2nd Gen immigrants hate 1st Gen immigrants!” On and on and on and on as we ALL suffer less housing, less food, less basic needs being met. Stop it. Common enemy. Meaningful Shareholders.

And if you think your little 401k makes you a meaningful shareholder, please just go sit down and have a juice box, the situation is beyond you and you either can’t or refuse to understand it.

  • I don’t even believe in the death penalty for most murderers.

But when your murder count would make any serial killer that did it with their bare hands instead of an email in all of history blush, with the cold calculation of a sociopath, there’s really nothing more to say.

That doesn’t even feel like murder, that feels like an ongoing mass slaughter.

I can empathize with murders of passion, even misguided, ignorant hatred as that was usually something impressed into them, and can relate to the very human secondary emotion of anger, but murders of “We’ll if I murder these thousands of people, I can increase quarterly profits by 2.4%! Score!” then it becomes impossible. It’s like trying to empathize with a computer devoid of any humanity.

  • Honestly this is a big reason I can’t root for our society in its current form.

Everyone in an area, barring diagnosed disability requiring special education, should go to the same PUBLIC schools to develop empathy with Americans who don’t live behind their guard gates, to have similar academic starting points if even a partial “meritocracy” is something we’d like to try to actually aspire to, and to reverse rich parents having no skin in the game and forcing them to advocate FOR public schools with their power rather than lobby to further destroy them for tax cuts because being greedy sociopaths is kind of their thing.

The idea that a child’s future prospects are so dependant on their parent’s socioeconomic status, rather than solely the child’s aptitude and motivation, makes this whole place nothing but a bad clown show to me. Feudalism with a marketing team.

In a country where intelligent and hard working children are lost to schools we starved to cut wealthy sociopath’s taxes, while dynastic entitled nitwits like George W Bush and Donald Trump literally cannot fail despite barely being able to walk without tripping on their own shoes or bankrupting yet another company, trying just makes one a sucker.

I was banned from the LW comics sub because there was a comic about climate change being real, and I said something along the lines of having far more sympathy for non-human life suffering the hostile climate we’re creating because we’re doing it eyes wide open out of reckless greed , which according to that mod is “ecofascist rhetoric,” which I thought was funny because I wasn’t advocating doing… anything. Saying our species is more culpable for climate change than the other animals also suffering it was wrongthink that day.

That’s the paradox of power in any form, the vast majority who pursue it, from politicians, to police, to mods, usually sought that power with a biased agenda, maybe not even consciously, but still. Power corrupts, bans for wrongthink aren’t avoidable with people in charge and no additional layers of active monitoring/auditing which isn’t really tenable on a volunteer basis.

Fuck China’s and Fuck Russia’s elite.

That said, reasonable is in the eye of the beholder, and I see capitalism’s apologists at this late hour (I’m suffering a reckless capitalist growth/metastasis caused heat dome as we speak along with 10s of millions of other Americans) as just as unreasonable as you see socialism proponents.

Modding abuse destroys communities, and that’s wrong. But I don’t demand all the communities I frequent spend their days agreeing with me, nor do I walk away unless the entire ethos/subject of the sub is to be against what I’m for. By that I mean, I can generally enjoy talking about a movie, for example, with a capitalism proponent because it isn’t generally centrally relevant to the topic.

The point of discourse is discourse. An AI chatbot will be better at feeding one’s confirmation bias than any community made up of people ever can be.
