I very much agree.
But there are other ways to create incentives for avoiding criminal behaviour and corruption (which IMO is closely tied to intolerance - a modern circus if you will).
Things like full asset seizure, mandatory multi-decade live-in community service work as a junior custodian in a medical centre.
If say an oligarch like Mark Zuckerberg (who very likely enabled mass killings in Myanmar both due to lack of concern and “risk management”) had all his assets seized and was sent for 20 years to the Island of Bhasan Char to work all the lowest level janitor on the island, other oligarchs would understand that they need show a modicum of respect and understanding towards others.
FWIW, I think the term “echo-chamber” is way overused, almost to the point of being meaningless. I also don’t believe in the sincerity and coherence of American-style conceptions of “free speech”.
“Fediverse shouldn’t allow convervatives communities” is nuts though. This is not workable from a practical perspective (forget the moral questions for a second).
Racism, overt dehumanisation, denial of widely accepted mass scale human rights abuses; that’s something that can be managed from a moderation standpoint. But this would impact groups across the political spectrum (nazies, tankies, some far right, some far left).
Feel free to crosspost to [email protected], we cover all transportation/logistics games and have a modicum of engagement.
Don’t know why this was downvoted.
I likely have an even more cynical take on American “conservatives” than those who are often labelled woke (and paradoxically I don’t always agree with), yet I don’t see the big deal with having a conservative community/instance or whatever.
I mean, Lemmy is rife with tankies; it doesn’t get much worse than that.
I think it was included in the intro as well. For some reason I associate it with my Simcity 3000 purchase.
Yeah, there are space whales in Before We Leave. Beyond These Stars is based on Before We Leave I believe.
A very cool, (somewhat) casual logistics terraforming game that I recently discovered.
Early game:
~240 years later:
The short story is really good. Although it’s pretty brutal and depressing.
Played the the game what seems like almost 30 years ago. I did not get very far at all (was too young).
I play a lot of tycoon/economic strategy games and Monopoly Tycoon is unique. There are some similar games, but something about their approach made it stand out even to this day.
I’ve played the original, but not the DLCs.
It’s a great game overall. Clearly reminiscent of Fallout 1/2 and to a lesser extent Arcanum.
Word of warning, this is a really hard game. I would recommend getting a build guide, it is really easy to mess up your build even if you have experience with older RPGs.
The combat is top notch and allows for different play styles that offers significant tactical variety. There is a lot of combat, but it is not a ARPG, far from it.
The world building is great. I was genuinely curious to learn about the world, its backstory and faction dynamics. It’s a very atmospheric experience.
The writing is mediocre. A lot of the characters are more like cardboard cutouts and/or quest dispensers. The missions tend to be relatively similar.
You do have to enjoy old-school RPG, with cheesing tactics, min-maxing and brutal combat.
At the end of the review, there is supposed to be a DOSbox installer to get the win 3.11 version running on modern systems:

Haven’t tried it myself (although I might give it a go over the weekend).
I think No One Lives Forever was inspired by the general style used in Ace Ventura.
Nice artwork!
A pretty simple game mechanically, but the world-building and writing really made the experience unique.
I am also really excited for the sequel.
I never played the original Holiday Island, but there is a solid spiritual successor in early access called Summer Islands.
A screenshot of one of my island archipelagos:
While I haven’t played 4/5, 2 is my favourite. I still re-play 2 every few years.
2, and to a lesser extent the first one, had a more darker and gritty tone. I would argue there is even a (mild) cyberpunk vibe to the game.
Don’t know why they used the term “dozens”, maybe they meant mainline quests. There are hundreds of quests from what I remember (some are pretty simple though).
It’s really good. Interesting take on the standard fantasy CRPG tropes; a fantasy world of magic going through industrialization. Many different ways to play the game (albeit the industrialists/drone operator approach is IMO too difficult for a first play though).
I would love such a Red Alert x business sim crossover. Alas, it was a mere typo.
