Absolutely agreed! Arch wiki helps with this as well.
Although Ive been using linux for 2 years now, and i still want an installation manager with sane defaults.

EndeavourOS has such great Arch defaults! Ive been daily driving it for 2 years now, and it still just works. (There were small regressions in plasma maybe like twice, both of which fixed itself upon next update)
Agreed.
However these ads need to be curated as well. This is the other thing that makes ads unbearable, is that a lot of them are just blatant scams.
I have learnt about proton and tuxedo from ads as well, which i use both.
Same. I have to use windows for work, and the virtual desktops are just mediocre at best to use.
That actually sounds good, but i like to use those in the browser and games
AFAIK intel arc gpus are pretty good for that.
For me, i made it so pressing Super+<number> switches to that workspace.
Super+Tab to toggle overview (Super+W by default)
And a hot corner, which is set to trigger almost instantly, to toggle overview.
What was disappointing about wallabag? I have an ebook reader, and Koreader has it integrated into it, and its great.
Of course it is.
You can download different models as well. For me, without a GPU, searching for example ‘cat’ takes a few seconds, and it is not the most accurate, but still works OK.
Same!
Did not realize how good it is to have digital albums with the family! And also having a backup is great as well, for a peace of mind.

I havent needed to stup kiosk mode (yet), but whats challenging about it? I always wondered why would people put up with Windows on these kiosks, instead of a simple Linux OS?
There are window managers / compositors, which fulfill kiosk mode, ex. Cage.
Exactly, it is lovely. Editing text with it is actually enjoyable.
To be honest with myself, I am kind of the same. For the lemmy devs and lemmy.world, there are 1€ / month tiers on patreon. Its not that much but at the very least its more than nothing.
Buddy, this is a linux post not a windows one
Just dont look at Ubisoft. 💀
Ad/promotion appeared in offline games whenever you opened the map…
Yeah, Codeberg’s UI is almost the same as github, its good tbh.
P.S. i came to the conclusion that codeberg/github UI is good, when i went to sourcehut. Holy crap, my mind couldnt comprehend what am i looking at. (Could be a skill issue tho)
Yeah same. I still use youtube for example, but not gmail, google search or windows. These three are huge, in gathering info.
Yeah, like people say ‘I already use windows/google search/whatever, so it does not matter if i switch email provider/ whatever’.
What?? I so hate this mentality: ‘If you cant eliminate / change it fully, then why bother?’ Bruh, small steps can go such a long way man…
The easiest way is to buy a used ssd, and dual-boot. Ive heard, always install windows first and then linux.
Done this way, there shouldnt be any problems. If you realize you dont need one of the operating systems, you could just wipe the disk and mount it again.
